ANNOUNCING A NEW DOCUMENTARY ABOUT WEBSERIES.
Who Makes Webseries, Who Watches Them, And Why.
Fresno, CA, USA and Abbotsford, BC, Canada: September 14, 2011
The explosion of online video in recent years has been fuelled, and lead, by pioneer creators. Why do they produce video content for the Internet? How do they overcome the challenges they face? What rewards can they expect? This documentary asks questions directly to a wide range of independent producers with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and public appearances. It explores the world of webseries – the creators, viewers and the community that surrounds them.
Set against the backdrop of two West Coast Conventions, VCON and Geek Girl Con, this documentary will talk to people who watch webseries and find out how they discover new shows, what they look for in a series and what, if anything, they do to support their favourite stars and series. It will also find out how many Convention-goers have never even heard of a webseries…
Directed by veteran Paul Best (Wolf’s Head Productions) and produced by Mary and Paul Higgins (HigletFilms), this documentary is currently in pre-production and shooting starts at VCON, Vancouver, BC on September 30th 2011. This will be the first documentary to look at this growing industry.
